Bereavement Ministry

Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.........................Matthew 5:5

††The Beatitudes found in the Gospel of Matthew are sometimes referred to as the “attitudes” of a follower of Christ.

Jesus said those who mourn at the death of a loved one are blessed

He likewise said they are comforted

But how does the blessing of comfort take place?

 First and foremost, it is the Holy Spirit who transmits strength, peace and comfort to those who mourn
at the passing of a loved one.

Secondly, it is through the love and support of family and friends.

 And thirdly, it is by members of their own Faith Community —through prayer and action.

Those called to this Ministry are parishioners

  … with a real faith commitment to Christ and to His Church;

  … with time, inclination and   inspiration to visit and work with people during this difficult time in   their lives;

  … with special  training to provide help and instruction regarding the Order of the Mass and the selection of prayers and music for Funeral Liturgies;

  … who participate in ongoing faith sharing, formation and development.
