group is requested to send a schedule of activities to the coordinator
as early as possible. |

The
Finance Council assists the pastor in the administration of parish
goods. The membership of the Council shall consist of persons skilled in
accounting and finance. The pastor appoints the members who must be a
practicing Catholic, a member of the Parish in good standing, who
participates in the ongoing life of the parish and with outstanding
integrity.
The Parish Council is a consultative body which assists the pastor to
act justly and prudently in the administration of the parish's temporal
goods. The Finance Council also assists in drawing up an annual budget,
a report to the faithful as well as reviewing the annual budget for the
parish school. |
The needs of our parish properties
are reviewed semiannually so that attention to maintenance and general
appearance of parish properties can be prioritized. Minor repairs are
then scheduled. |
The Parish Pastoral Council is a
consultative body composed of the Pastor and Associates, Elected
Officers, Members-at-Large, Chairpersons of standing committees, and the
Trustees. They collaborate with the Pastor in providing leadership
within the parish community. The Council assists the Pastor by serving
as a unifying and coordinating structure for all aspects of parish life,
worship, service, education, formation, evangelization and stewardship.
The Council strives
to unify all peoples and groups within the parish by encouraging their
support of our parish goals.
The Parish Council is presided by the pastor through which the Christian
faithful assist in fostering Pastoral activity. The pastor is
Chairperson and Moderator of the Parish Council. A lay parishioner shall
be President of the Parish Council. Membership is open to all
parishioners who are actively involved in the life of the Parish. The
pastor decides the number of persons comprising the Council. The Parish
Council advices the pastor only, not the Bishop. |

Christ the King Regional School |
The Christ the King Regional School
community believes that each child is a unique creation, entitled to
understanding, love and respect. The faculty, as well as the clergy,
administration, parents and parish communities dedicate themselves to
this belief, and endeavor to provide and nurture a Christian educational
and physically sound atmosphere. Such an environment allows each student
to become a person whose values and actions are rooted deeply in the
Gospel. |
Alumni can keep in contact with each
other, as well as organize their interests and resources in support of
Christ the King Regional School. A social gathering is held each year.
Address and phone records of alumni are maintained for school use for
development purposes to support the ongoing maintenance needs of the
building and improvement of the technology curriculum. |

Board on financial matters regarding the long-term financial strength of
Christ the King School. |
The school offers gift certificates
for grocery and retail stores that are the equivalent of cash. The
school earns from 5% to 12% on the sale of the certificates.
Certificates are available during school hours. Please give a boost to our school finances and
participate regularly in the program. |

(an AM session is also available). Please contact the school office for
more information. |
The goals of the PTA are: to foster a
sense of community among the parishes, parents, teachers and
administration of Christ the King School; to provide an avenue of
communication to strengthen that community; and to provide financial
support to the school through fund-raising activities. |

Liturgical Ministries |
This ministry is responsible for
adorning the church for the various liturgical seasons and special
events to draw the congregation into a greater awareness and
appreciation of the sacred. |
Sacristans care for the laundering of
the corporals, purificators, and hand towels used in liturgical services
and for the altar cloths used in the Adoration Chapel and for the table
for the preparation of the Gifts. Volunteers are assigned on a rotating
schedule. |
This is a ministry of boys and girls
from parish families in the fourth through twelfth grades. They assist at
the altar during Sunday Masses, special feast days, funerals, and
weddings. Meetings are held three times a year on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 3:20-
4:15pm in the Church. |
During the 9:00 &
11:00am Masses in October
through April, Liturgy of the Word for children ages 4-7 is held in the
lower level of the church. Children are dismissed during Mass and rejoin
their families for Eucharist. Teams of adults volunteer to share an age
appropriate experience of Liturgy of Word for some of our youngest
parishioners. |
Men and women, 21 years of
age and older, who have completed a Diocesan training program, may
assist in distribution of Holy Communion under both species at all
liturgies and may also choose to bring Holy Communion to the sick and
shut-ins of our parish. |
This ministry consists of men and
women who welcome parishioners and visitors as they enter the church and
hand out bulletins at the end of Mass. Ushers facilitate the needs of
the assembly during communion and take up the collection. |
As part of this ministry, confirmed
men and women, who have completed a training program, proclaim the Word
at weekday, Sunday and Holy Day Masses. |
The Liturgy Committee meets
quarterly to review all liturgical ministries and to plan upcoming
liturgies. All parishioners are invited to attend Liturgy meetings.
The date of the meetings is placed in the parish bulletin. |

all adults and students of high school age. The choir meets on
Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:00pm and leads the assembly in song at the
11:00am mass every Sunday as well as several special liturgies
throughout the year. Child Care Service is provided for both
rehearsals and liturgies for those participating in the choir. For

the King, an entire weekend of events brings parishioners together to
build community and celebrate our namesake Feast Day on the third
weekend in November. |

Morgan Hall after 9:00am Mass
every 1st and 3rd Sunday to establish a social setting for building community
spirit and for welcoming new parishioners. |

Troops of all ages meet in Christ the King Church facilities to learn
arts, crafts, outdoor and leadership skills. |

receptions and parish functions. New parishioners receive personal phone
calls of welcome.
This committee assists with the Annual House of Charity appeal for the
Diocese of Camden held each spring by soliciting donations from
parishioners. The money donated goes for Catholic Charities, Catholic
special education, and counseling services for the six counties in our
Diocese. |
Interfaith Caregivers provide supportive volunteer services for
individuals in the community who are elderly or who have a disability in
order to facilitate independent living in their own homes. Currently over
two dozen volunteers from our parish provide support services that include
transportation, companionship, shopping, errands, telephone reassurance,
assistance in filling out forms and reading to individuals who are visually
impaired. A two session training course is required. |
After a pastoral referral, the Parish Counselor, who is a licensed
counselor, will minister to those experiencing grief and bereavement,
unemployment, and other transitional life challenges. |
Approximately every five years, the Parish offers parishioners the
opportunity to have family photographs taken that are published in a Parish
Photo Directory. This directory increases community spirit and provides a
phone and address list of parishioners who wish to be included in the book. |
A special cookout with games
and entertainment is held in the fall of the year to build community and
welcome newcomers. Parishioners are invited to volunteer to help make
this gathering the success that it is each year. |
The purpose of the Christ the King Parish Library is to serve as a
ministry to all parishioners who seek information, inspiration and
guidance. It is a center that provides support for the spiritual growth
of individuals of all ages and is a resource for the ministries within
the parish. |
This parish outreach program supports those in need with food donations,
help with rent and utilities etc. in the Haddonfield and Camden area. Every
third Sunday nonperishable food donations are collected in church along with
financial gifts to help fund the program. The Holy Thursday collection each
year at Easter also helps to fund those with special needs. |
Men and women gather
together for prayer, play, fun, entertainment and support for one
another through various programs and outings. Meetings are held the
third Wednesday of each month in Morgan Hall at 12:00 noon. |

Prayer and Study Groups
The Eucharistic Adoration Chapel is
located in the front/right side of Christ the King Church. Time spent
in Eucharistic Adoration is an invaluable blessing for those who place
themselves in God’s presence. Those who wish are invited to set aside
one hour of their time a week to be with the Lord in the Adoration
Chapel. Keeping time with Christ makes us one with God and one with the
world around us. This “contemplative time” opens the soul to God’s
closeness and widens our view of life. The Adoration Chapel is open
during the following times:
Monday thru Friday
from 8:30am until 8:00pm. |
Saturday
from 8:30am until 4:00pm |

meeting at 2:00pm and then a time for group study / instruction. The
SFO group ends their time together with Benediction and praying the
Office of the Hours. Anyone who is a practicing Catholic with an
interest in the Franciscan Spirit is invited to become a Secular
Franciscan. Please contact the Parish Office for more information. |

An annual Parish Mission is held every Lenten season for four evenings to
increase spiritual awareness of the season. This will include a Parish
Lenten Penance Service. |

With commitment to prayer, confidential information and communicating
prayer intentions, each member acts in an intercessory prayer way for our
Parish community, the world, and any special intentions requested.
The purpose of this
ministry is to provide prayerful comfort to anyone in need. Women and
men are invited to come pray and knit/crochet shawls. Meetings are

These are groups of fellow parishioners who meet regularly to help each
other connect faith with everyday life. Each year during Advent and Lent new
groups are formed. If you are new to the parish, we invite you to join us.
You will grow as a Catholic; connect faith and life; and get to know other
parishioners. |
Our parish maintains a WebSite at www.christ-the-king-parish.org for current parish and
school activities. The Parish Office is on line with e-mail and our webcam
broadcasts our weekend services and special events. Contact the Parish Office to submit WebSite updates
or to make suggestions. |
Women’s retreats are offered

these retreats in the parish bulletin on a regular basis. |
Religious Education |
Adult education and faith update programs are offered in the Parish and
by the Diocese on an ongoing basis during the year. Please read the bulletin
for program information. |
Christ the King Religious Education program strives to proclaim the
message of Jesus to the young people of our parish who attend schools other
than Christ the King Regional School. With the cooperation of their parents,
the children receive religious instruction and are prepared to receive the
sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. Religious
instruction is provided for children attending Grades K-6 on Monday
afternoons, and Wednesday afternoons, pre-school age children
during 9:00 A.M. Sunday Mass, and Junior and senior high school students, through our Youth Ministry Groups whose meetings are held
in the evening. |
Programs for grades 7-12 are planned that encourage spiritual development
after Confirmation, community building and service outreach for the teens of
Christ the King parish. The small group discussion format allows teens to
connect their faith with ordinary life experiences. Bowling, hayrides,
dances, and swim parties, retreats, and service camp with Summer in the
City round out the program. |
Sacramental
Formation |
The Sacrament of
Baptism is the first stage in an extended process of growth towards
Christian maturity. As the primary educators of their child, the
parent/guardian has the first and most important influence on the faith
development of their children. Parishes must provide catechesis
for the parent/guardian regarding Baptism before their child is
baptized. This catechesis must include the Church's rich teachings
of the sacrament and the obligations attached to it. It should be
designed to deepen the parent/guardian personal faith so that they can
accept the responsibility to see that the fruits of the sacrament come
to realization as their child matures.
It will be
important for expectant parents/guardians to arrange for
participation in a Baptism Preparation Class well before the
birth and Baptism of the child. Contact the Parish Center for
more information.
The sacrament of
Confirmation takes place in the spring of eigth grade. The purpose of this
ministry is to awaken in our young adults the realization that with
baptism comes privileges and responsibilities, to discuss the availability
of the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives and to develop an
appreciation that God’s word is speaking to them. Contact the Office of
Religious Education. |
This program prepares the second grade children and their parents for the
celebration of the Sacrament. Upon completion of the program, First
Eucharist is celebrated in the spring. Contact the
Office of Religious Education. |
This ministry prepares children for the sacrament of Penance before First
Eucharist. The parents of the children attend one parent meeting and receive
material and instruction on preparing their child for the sacrament.
Additional instruction is given in Religious Education. |
Engaged couples explore different facets of marriage (sexuality, natural
family planning, communication, adjustments, sacramentality, and moral
decision making) through questionnaires. This Diocesan program assists
couples in preparing for marriage and family life. It provides a support
system for engaged couples during the engagement period and for marriage
enrichment after the wedding day. Contact the Parish Office |
The sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated in Parish Penance Services
during Lent and Advent each year in addition to being offered each Saturday
from 4-4:45 p.m. and by appointment. |
Those who may feel a calling to serve the Church in the religious life or
priesthood may call on one of the priests at the parish office. There are a
number of religious vocations: Priest, Deacon, Religious Sister or Brother.
One may also call the vocations office for the Diocese of Camden at
756-7900. This office offers discernment retreats for those inquiring about
a religious vocation. |
-
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
The RCIA is the process through which those seeking to
fully join the Catholic Church are welcomed. This includes those who have
never been baptized, those baptized in other Christian faiths and baptized
Catholics who have not received First Communion or Confirmation. It is a
journey of faith. In the company of a sponsor from the parish community and
through experiences of faith sharing, prayer, instruction and celebration,
inquirers enter into the sacramental life of the Church at the Easter Vigil.
RCIA meets Sundays between 9:20am - 10:45am in the Parish Center. Contact
the Parish Center for more information. |
