The Sanctuary

The windows of the sanctuary are equally planned both as to subject,
their position in the church and their predominantly gold color.
This gold color was chosen to show the spiritual warmth of the presence of
Christ the King in the Blessed Sacrament.

The four angels are the archangels chosen for their missions
in going out from the throne of God to man:

On the left -  St. Michael:  “Like unto God,” who weighs the souls of men at the Savior’s command.
Central figure on the left side is Christ as the high priest, offering His life for all mankind.   St. Raphael:
“God is my health”, chief of the guardian angels.
On the right – St. Gabriel:  “God is my strength”, royal dignity and power of God.

Central figure on the right side is Christ, doctor of both body and soul.  St. Uriel:                        “God is my light,” spiritual enlightenment, divine grace.

Most of the sanctuary walls are of imported marbles.  The long panels on the “reredos”, or back of the Altar, as well as the base and top of the sanctuary wainscoting, are of St. Genevieve Golden Vein marble.

The dado of the wainscoting is of Botticino marble which is excavated in Italy.

Note the exquisite Florentine Mosaic panel of the Holy Spirit emblem inlaid on the Exposition throne above the Tabernacle.
